Join the IWAI Cruising Club
The Cruising Club was founded on 21st April 2007 and is the first non-geographical based branch of the Inland Waterways Association of Ireland.
At present the branch has a fleet of approximately 45 boats and a membership of circa 85 persons.
Cruising grounds include all navigable waterways in the island of Ireland. In addition, some members also enjoy cruising on the Shannon Estuary as well as coastal cruising on the west coast or even further afield.
Most events organised by the Cruising Club involve a weekend 'Cruise-in-Company' to a pre-determined location and include a range of entertaining activities.
Membership is welcomed from any and all interested parties, be they boat-owners or not.

Who Are We?
The Cruising Club draws its membership primarily from boat owners (and some non-boat owners!) based in Ireland. Members reside in the four corners of Ireland and although a significant number are retired there are many who are still working. And we have a few members who are based in the USA and UK. Events are scheduled to take account of Bank Holiday weekends so that working members can participate. Most boats are crewed by couples although there are a few members who regulalry skipper alone. Our fleet, although primarily 'cruiser' in nature also includes, barges and speedboats. And our boats reflect a range in terms of size and horse-power.
Where Are We?
Whereas our boat crews are dispersed throughout the four corners of Ireland, with a small number of overseas based members, our boats can be found in marinas along the main navigable section of Ireland's inland waterways.
We have boats based in Carrick-on-Shannon and all the way down to Killaloe. There are sizeable groupings on Lough Derg at Killaloe and Portumna, Several boats have home berths in Banagher and there are others in the Athlone area.

Where Do We Go?
Mostly we cruise on the Shannon-Erne waterways, enjoying the large lakes such as Lough Derg, Lough Ree and Lough Key and the waters that join them.
And in the summer months some members enjoy coastal cruising on the West and South-West coasts of Ireland.
